Juventus 0-1 Stuttgart: Stuttgart snatch all three points from Juventus in Turin

Stuttgart achieved a remarkable 1-0 victory over Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, marking their first competitive encounter with the Bianconeri, despite missing a penalty.

This unexpected outcome resulted in Juventus losing their flawless UEFA Champions League record for the season.

Although Stuttgart was enduring a four-match winless streak, they began the game with vigor, missing two significant opportunities through Maximilian Mittelstadt and Deniz Undav, both of whom failed to challenge goalkeeper Mattia Perin effectively.

The home team struggled to find their rhythm, allowing Enzo Millot to locate Ermedin Demirovic in the penalty area with ease. Demirovic's low shot struck the post, yet Perin remained the most active Juventus player in the first half, notably executing an impressive save to deflect Undav’s looping header over the crossbar.

In contrast, Juventus did not manage to test Alexander Nubel, their opposing goalkeeper, during the first half. Stuttgart resumed the second half with the same intensity they had shown previously, aiming for only their second victory in their last 12 encounters with Italian teams.

Shortly after the second half commenced, the threatening Undav believed he had scored when he struck the ball into the net from the edge of the area, only for the goal to be disallowed due to a handball detected by VAR.

Fortunately for the visiting supporters, the disallowed goal did not diminish Stuttgart's determination as they continued to seek the opening goal.

However, they repeatedly faced the same obstacle in the form of Perin, who made a series of outstanding saves to thwart attempts from Millot and Demirovic.

This sustained pressure from Stuttgart finally prompted a response from Juventus, who managed to create their first opportunity of the match in the 65th minute. Nicolo Fagioli found Kenan Yildiz just outside the box, leading the winger to unleash a powerful shot directly at Nubel.

The dynamics of the game shifted dramatically once more when a reckless act by captain Danilo resulted in him kicking Anthony Rouault within the penalty area. This incident prompted referee Espen Eskas to award a penalty following a VAR review.

Compounding the situation, Danilo received a second yellow card and was subsequently dismissed from the match. Just prior to this, Perin made a crucial save for Juventus, thwarting Millot's penalty attempt and preserving what had been an outstanding personal performance.

Nevertheless, Juventus's numerical disadvantage ultimately proved detrimental, as they conceded a goal during stoppage time. A well-executed move by Stuttgart culminated in substitute El Bilal Toure breaking into the box and scoring decisively.

Stuttgart then valiantly managed the remaining minutes of the match, securing their inaugural victory in Italy and marking their first win of this Champions League season.
