Juventus 1-0 Napoli: Gatti's strike sees Juve go top of Serie A

With a chance to surpass Inter Milan tonight, even if only temporarily, Juventus remained cautious of their opponents' strong away record.

Napoli, comfortably dictating play in the early exchanges, had a close call as Danilo nearly directed a cross into his own net, and Matteo Politano's curling shot brushed the post.

Still adapting under Walter Mazzarri post-Rudi Garcia, Napoli's defense seemed shaky, and Dusan Vlahovic's goal attempt was thwarted by a remarkable block from Natan.

Despite Federico Chiesa causing problems for a defense that had conceded seven in the last two games, the best first-half chance went to the visitors.

Victor Osimhen's run and pass to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia provided a golden opportunity, but Wojciech Szczesny did enough to disrupt the shot.

The first half had everything but goals, and the Allianz Stadium crowd had to wait only minutes into the second half for Federico Gatti to head in Andrea Cambiaso's cross, securing a last-gasp winner.

This result leaves them 12 points behind tonight's opponents, who seem poised to contend for silverware after a three-season Scudetto drought.
