Juventus sack Thiago Motta, appoint Igor Tudor as New Head Coach

Juventus have officially parted ways with Thiago Motta after less than a season in charge, following a string of disappointing performances. The club confirmed his dismissal on Sunday, appointing former player Igor Tudor as the new head coach with immediate effect.
Juventus Confirm Thiago Motta’s Exit
A statement released by the Italian giants read:
"Juventus FC announce that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as men’s first team coach. Juventus also confirm that the team will now be led by Igor Tudor, who will take charge of his first training session on Monday, March 24."
The decision comes after back-to-back humiliating defeats — a crushing 4-0 loss to Atalanta, their worst home defeat since 1967, and a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Fiorentina. These results have left Juventus in a precarious fifth place in Serie A, putting their Champions League qualification hopes in serious jeopardy.

Igor Tudor Tasked with Reviving Juve’s Top-Four Hopes
Former Juventus defender Igor Tudor returns to the club, bringing managerial experience from his time at Verona, Marseille, and Lazio. With only a few games left in the season, his primary goal will be to secure a top-four finish, a crucial objective for Juventus’ financial stability and European ambitions.
Motta’s Underwhelming Tenure Ends Abruptly
Expectations were high when Motta took charge, particularly after leading Bologna to Champions League qualification last season. However, his time in Turin failed to live up to the hype, with 13 league draws and underwhelming summer signings adding to the club’s woes.
His tenure saw Juventus crash out of the Champions League in the play-off round against PSV Eindhoven and suffer a shock exit from the Italian Cup quarter-finals against Empoli — a trophy they had won last season. Additionally, his questionable squad decisions, including benching key players like Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic and Turkish starlet Kenan Yildiz, further fueled criticism.
Juventus’ Uphill Battle for Champions League Qualification
Juventus now face a tense battle to secure a Champions League spot. With six points separating fourth-placed Bologna and ninth-placed AC Milan, Tudor will need to rally the squad and inspire a late-season resurgence.
In their farewell message, the club acknowledged Motta’s efforts:
"The club would like to thank Thiago Motta and his staff for their professionalism, dedication, and passion during their time with Juventus."
With the season nearing its climax, all eyes will be on Tudor to see if he can steer Juventus back to Europe’s elite competition.
