Juventus sign Portugal defender Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea

Juventus have bolstered their defense by signing Portuguese international Renato Veiga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, the Serie A club announced on Monday.
The 21-year-old joined Chelsea from FC Basel in July on a seven-year deal, reportedly worth €14 million ($14.68 million). However, Veiga has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge, making just one Premier League start this season.
The versatile defender earned his senior debut for Portugal in October 2023 during a Nations League clash against Poland and has since featured in two more international fixtures.
Veiga arrives at Juventus as the club looks to reinforce its defensive options amidst an injury crisis. The Bianconeri are currently fifth in Serie A, two points behind fourth-placed Lazio and 16 points adrift of league leaders Napoli.
With defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal sidelined due to anterior cruciate ligament injuries and Danilo departing the club by mutual agreement on Monday, Veiga could play a crucial role for Juve during the remainder of the campaign.
The Portuguese defender will aim to seize this opportunity and make a significant impact in Serie A as Juventus push for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification.
