Kane scores hat-trick as Bayern Munich dismantle Darmstadt

HAT-TRICK HERO Harry Kane scored a hat-trick including a goal from his own half as Bayern Munich beat Darmstadt 8-0 on Manuel Neuer's return to the Bundesliga.

Kane fired past goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen from midfield to score Bayern's fifth and second as Bayern tore Darmstadt apart on a rollercoaster afternoon for the champions. "I'm going home very happy today," said goalkeeper Neuer, who made his first appearance after almost a year with a broken leg.

However Neuer's comeback started in the worst possible way for Bayern. In a game that saw three red cards before the break for the first time in Bundesliga history, Joshua Kimmich was the first to take a late shower.

The Bayern midfielder was sent off for bringing down Marvin Mehlem in front of goal after losing the ball too quickly in front of goal. "It was a stupid red card, I'm very angry," said Kimmich, who will now miss Bayern's clash against Borussia Dortmund next weekend.

Darmstadt's hopes of victory were dashed after 17 minutes when Klaus Gjasula received a harsh red card for bringing down Bayern's Konrad Laimer on the edge of the area. The visitors were reduced to nine men shortly before half-time after Matej Maglica was sent off for a similar challenge on Kane.

Leroy Sané had a goal ruled out for offside just before the break, but Bayern came out seven goals down in the second and 25th minutes. Kane then curled a fine header from close range, before Sane doubled the lead in stoppage time.

Jamal Musiala and Sane then put the game beyond Darmstadt by completing two excellent long runs in succession. Kane put the icing on the cake with a long-range screamer, before Thomas Mueller and Musiala added the sixth and seventh.

"It was an amazing goal," Kimmich said of Kane's strike. The England captain scored his third goal just two minutes from time to complete his second hat-trick in nine Bundesliga games this season.
