Karolina Muchova withdraws from WTA Finals with wrist injury

World's eighth-ranked tennis player, Karolina Muchova, has regrettably withdrawn from the highly anticipated WTA Finals in Cancun due to a right wrist injury. Tour officials announced this news on a Tuesday.
Czech star Muchova secured her spot as the eighth qualifier for the season-ending tournament following her impressive performances at the Cincinnati final and the U.S. Open semi-final.
In both of these tournaments, she faced off against American Coco Gauff but couldn't clinch victory.
In her statement, Muchova expressed, "Together with my team and the medical professionals, we exhausted all options in our effort to resolve my wrist injury.
Unfortunately, the recovery time needed is longer than we had hoped, leading to this difficult decision."As a result of Muchova's withdrawal, Maria Sakkari of Greece, the first alternate and ranked 28th, will step in to take her place.
This year's WTA Finals, commencing on Sunday, will mark Sakkari's third consecutive appearance at the event, having reached the semi-finals in the previous year.
