Kecmanovic pulls off stunning comeback to claim Delray Beach title

Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia, aged 25, triumphed over Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, also 25, in a hard-fought match, securing a 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory on Sunday at Delray Beach, Florida. This win marks Kecmanovic's second ATP title.

Facing a break at 5-2 in the final set, Kecmanovic successfully defended against two match points while serving in the eighth game. Davidovich narrowly missed a forehand on the first opportunity, and Kecmanovic benefited from a net cord on a volley winner during the subsequent point.

This pivotal moment sparked a remarkable comeback for Kecmanovic, who won five consecutive games to clinch the match. Although Davidovich, aiming for his inaugural title, had a chance to break in the final game, he was unable to convert. After Kecmanovic let one match point slip away, Davidovich sent another forehand long, allowing Kecmanovic to secure victory on his second match point.

With this win, Kecmanovic adds a second title to his collection, complementing the Kitzbuhel claycourt championship he earned in 2020. Starting the week ranked 56th, he is set to return to the top 50 in the world rankings for the first time since August when the new rankings are published on Monday.

For Davidovich, ranked 60th in the world, the tournament concluded on a disappointing note, despite his earlier success in defeating American Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals, halting Fritz's quest for a third consecutive Delray Beach title.
