Kelechi Iheanacho joins Sevilla from Leicester City

Kelechi Iheanacho, aged 27, has signed a two-year contract with LaLiga powerhouse Sevilla, departing from Leicester City, with an option for an additional year.
Following the conclusion of his contract at the King Power Stadium after a seven-year tenure, the Nigerian international will continue his professional career in Spain.
Sevilla announced on their official website, "Kelechi Iheanacho has become our fifth acquisition of the summer. He joins us on a two-year contract as a free agent, having spent the previous season with Leicester City."
The Nigerian forward began his professional journey in 2014 in Nigeria before transitioning to Europe the following year with Manchester City, where he initially played in the youth teams. He made 64 appearances for the first team, netting 21 goals and providing seven assists over the subsequent two seasons.
With this transfer, Iheanacho becomes the third African player in Garcia Pimienta’s squad, joining compatriot Chidera Ejuke and Tanguy Nianzou, a France youth international of Ivorian heritage.
At the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the Super Eagle aims to rejuvenate his career, having scored five goals in 23 league matches last season as the Foxes returned to the English topflight.
Iheanacho first gained recognition at the 2013 U17 World Cup, where he played a pivotal role in Nigeria's victory, earning both the Golden Ball and Silver Shoe awards for his outstanding performances.
Despite interest from numerous top European clubs, he made the move to Manchester City from Taye Academy for an undisclosed fee. Iheanacho recorded his first career hat-trick on January 30, 2016, against Aston Villa in the FA Cup's fourth round, where he also assisted Raheem Sterling for the club's fourth goal.
Before departing the Etihad Stadium due to challenges in securing a regular position in Pep Guardiola’s illustrious squad, Iheanacho tallied 12 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions.
On the global stage, he first appeared as a substitute in a qualifying match for the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Eswatini. To date, he has participated in 55 matches and netted 19 goals for the three-time champions of Africa.
