Khvicha Kvaratskhelia bids farewell to Napoli as PSG transfer looms

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, aged 23, has announced his departure from the club through a farewell message shared on social media on Thursday, as he prepares to join French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

On Saturday, Napoli coach Antonio Conte revealed that Kvaratskhelia had requested an immediate transfer from the Serie A side. "It is difficult for me, but the time has come to say farewell," Kvaratskhelia expressed in a video on Instagram.

"My time here has been incredible; we have created numerous memories and shared many wonderful experiences. Naples has been my home, and I have felt truly cherished by all of you."

Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli in 2022 and was honored as Serie A's player of the season for the 2022/23 campaign, contributing to the club's first Scudetto in 33 years with 12 goals and 13 assists across 34 matches.

"Naples is a city that breathes football; it thrives on the sport, and I am grateful to have been part of this remarkable legacy," Kvaratskhelia added. "I have learned immensely during my time here, both on and off the field. I have developed as an individual and as a player... I extend my gratitude to everyone associated with the club: the coaches, the staff, my teammates, and the fans.

"I bid you farewell, but you will forever hold a place in my heart, and I hope our paths cross again. I understand that this news may be painful for you, but one day I will share everything with you."

The Georgian international had been previously rumored to be moving to PSG during the summer transfer window before opting to remain under the guidance of the new coach, Conte.

His contract with Napoli was set to run until 2027.
