Khvicha Kvaratskhelia joins PSG from Napoli

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have officially signed Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Serie A champions Napoli, with the 23-year-old committing to a deal that runs until 2029, the Ligue 1 club announced on Friday.

While the financial terms were not disclosed, reports suggest PSG paid a €70 million ($71.93 million) transfer fee, along with potential add-ons, to secure the talented winger.

"PSG are delighted to announce the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia," the club shared in an official statement. "The 23-year-old winger, who will wear the number 7 shirt, becomes the first Georgian player in the club's history."

Kvaratskhelia’s move to Paris follows failed negotiations with Napoli to extend his contract, originally set to run until 2027. After requesting an exit last week, the dynamic attacker opted for a new challenge in Ligue 1.

This isn’t the first time Kvaratskhelia was linked with PSG—speculation around his transfer circulated during the summer window, but he remained in Italy for another season under coach Antonio Conte.

The Georgian international joined Napoli in 2022 and quickly made a name for himself as one of Serie A’s brightest stars. During his debut season, he scored 12 goals and registered 13 assists in 34 league matches, playing a crucial role in Napoli's first scudetto in 33 years. His performances earned him the title of Serie A’s Player of the Season.

"Khvicha is one of the most exciting players in world football. A fantastic talent, but also a player who has courage and fights for the team above all else," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. "Khvicha was so determined to be part of our great club. I know he will achieve all his goals with us."

In the first half of the current season, Kvaratskhelia contributed five goals and three assists in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Reflecting on his move, Kvaratskhelia expressed enthusiasm for his new chapter:
"It's a dream to be here. I've heard so many positive things about PSG," he said.
"I feel immense pride in joining this great club, and I'm really looking forward to wearing my new colours."

The transfer marks a significant milestone for both PSG and Kvaratskhelia, with the Georgian becoming the first player from his country to join the French giants. Fans are eagerly anticipating his debut and the impact he will bring to the team’s attacking lineup.
