Koopmeiners brace fires Atalanta past Milan into Coppa Italia semi-finals

Rafael Leao opened the scoring for Milan just before halftime with a graceful first-time finish from a pass by Theo Hernandez.
However, Atalanta quickly responded as an unmarked Koopmeiners received a ball from Emil Holm near the edge of the box and skillfully guided a low shot into the far corner.
In the 59th minute, Koopmeiners completed the comeback for Atalanta by converting a penalty after Alex Jimenez fouled Aleksei Miranchuk.
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini was shown a red card late in the first half after a heated conversation with the referee, which continued despite an initial warning.
The closing minutes of the match became more intense as a desperate Milan pushed forward, but Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi made crucial saves to deny attempts from Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah.
In the final moments, Milan's hopes were briefly raised when a potential handball by Miranchuk inside the box was reviewed by VAR, but it was ultimately dismissed.
Milan's backup goalkeeper Antonio Mirante was shown a direct red card from the bench for dissent after protesting against the decision.
Following their win over Bologna on penalties on Tuesday, Atalanta will face Fiorentina in a two-legged semi-final in April, led by Vincenzo Italiano.
