Last-gasp Galeno strike sees Porto take slender lead in Champions League Round of 16 tie with Arsenal

Galeno scored a remarkable late goal to clinch a 1-0 win for Porto against Arsenal in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Estádio do Dragão. Porto has only lost one of their last 18 home matches in this competition.

Arsenal are considered one of the top contenders for this season's Champions League due to their impressive performance in the Premier League in 2023/24.

During a challenging first half in Porto, the home team had better opportunities, with Galeno hitting the post from close range and Nico Gonzalez missing a shot over the bar.

Despite being on the defensive in the first half, Mikel Arteta's team improved in the second half, with Martin Odegaard's shot hitting Leandro Trossard before being cleared.

The Gunners had a promising moment when Trossard missed a volley after a pass from Declan Rice. However, Galeno's brilliant goal from 20 yards secured the victory for Porto.

Although Arsenal controlled the second half, they will be disappointed with the loss and will need to work hard in the upcoming match at the Emirates Stadium.

Porto, on the other hand, has a poor record in England, having never won a match, with three draws and 18 losses.
