LeBron James powers the Lakers to comeback win over Kevin Durant's short-handed Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers rallied for a 100-95 victory over the visiting Phoenix Suns on Thursday, led by Anthony Davis' 30 points and 12 rebounds, and LeBron James' 21 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.

Los Angeles rallied from a 12-point deficit through three quarters by outscoring the Suns 28-11 in the fourth quarter. Phoenix went seven minutes without scoring in the fourth quarter as the Lakers took the lead.

Kevin Durant led the Suns with 39 points and 11 rebounds after they won their season opener at Golden State on Tuesday. The Phoenix Suns will play the Utah Jazz at home on Saturday.

Phoenix's Eric Gordon scored 15 points after starting in place of Devin Booker (foot) and Bradley Beal (back). Beal has yet to play for the Suns.

The Lakers scored the game's first seven points before the Suns stormed back to lead 30-18 after the first quarter. Phoenix led 52-48 at halftime, thanks to 15 points from Durant.

The Lakers remained within striking distance for much of the third quarter until a late 11-4 run gave Phoenix an 84-72 lead heading into the fourth.

After a Durant 3-pointer with 8:53 left gave Phoenix an 87-82 lead, the Suns didn't score again until Durant sank a pull-up jumper with 1:55 left, bringing the Suns to within 91-89.

After Durant tied the game at 91-91 with 1:30 remaining on a layup, James made a pair of running layups to give the Lakers a 95-91 lead with 41 seconds remaining. Davis sealed the victory by going 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final seven seconds.

Durant passed Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th place on the all-time scoring list with 26,949 points at the end of the game. Olajuwon finished his Hall of Fame career with 26,946 points.
