Leganes win Spanish second division to return to LaLiga after four years

Leganes has made a fantastic return to LaLiga after a long absence since 2020.

They secured their promotion by defeating Elche 2-0 on Sunday in Spain's second division. Although Leganes had a chance to secure promotion last weekend, they narrowly missed out.

However, they managed to clinch it on the final day of the season by surpassing Real Valladolid, who were already promoted.

Ronaldo's Valladolid, in which he holds a majority stake, suffered a 2-1 defeat against Tenerife, allowing Leganes to claim the top spot.

Eibar, Espanyol, Sporting Gijon, and Real Oviedo finished between third and sixth place and will now compete in the play-offs for the last promotion spot in June.
