Leicester appoint former Nottingham Forest boss Cooper as new manager

Leicester City has announced the appointment of Steve Cooper as their new manager for the upcoming Premier League season.
The 44-year-old Welshman has signed a three-year contract, taking him through until 2027. Cooper replaces Enzo Maresca, who recently left the club to join Chelsea.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Cooper stated, "I am truly honored and thrilled to be chosen as Leicester City's First Team Manager. This club has an incredible history and dedicated fans.
" He also expressed his excitement about working with the talented squad and the challenge of achieving their shared goals in the Premier League.
Cooper brings valuable experience to Leicester, having previously managed Nottingham Forest. Under his guidance, Forest secured promotion from the Championship through the play-offs and successfully maintained their Premier League status in the following season.
However, he was later dismissed by the club after a difficult 2023/24 campaign. Despite receiving offers from second-tier clubs, Cooper opted for a move to the top-flight.
Prior to his time at Nottingham Forest, Cooper achieved success at Swansea and also worked with England's youth teams, coaching the under-16 and under-17 sides.
Leicester City's first match under Cooper's leadership will be against Tottenham on the opening day of the 2024/25 season.
