Leicester City 0-2 Manchester City: Haaland ends goal drought as Cityzens get much needed win

Manchester City achieved only their second Premier League victory since October, as Savinho's inaugural goal for the club propelled Pep Guardiola's team to a tense 2-0 win against Leicester City.

Entering the match a significant 14 points behind the Premier League leaders, Manchester City began the game with vigor during an engaging first 20 minutes.

Erling Haaland had a low shot saved by Jakub Stolarczyk's legs, while at the opposite end, Stefan Ortega made a courageous dive to deny Jamie Vardy's angled attempt.

Guardiola's squad maintained their offensive pressure, and it was the struggling visitors who first found the net when Savinho struck decisively from close range after Phil Foden's initial shot was deflected by Stolarczyk—marking the Brazilian's long-awaited first goal of the season.

The match's fast-paced nature persisted as the first half unfolded, with Haaland skillfully maneuvering past multiple defenders at the edge of the box, only to narrowly miss the target with his shot.

Leicester came perilously close to equalizing shortly thereafter, as the reinstated Facundo Buonanotte's close-range header struck the post.

The Foxes continued to search for an equalizer in the early moments of the second half, with Bilal El Khannouss sending a curling shot over the bar and James Justin having a flicked effort cleared off the line by Manuel Akanji.

As the match approached the final 25 minutes, the hosts squandered another excellent chance to level the score when Vardy shot wastefully over the bar from within the six-yard box.

This missed opportunity proved pivotal, as Manchester City extended their lead in the 74th minute when Haaland headed expertly into the far corner from Savinho's cross, igniting jubilant celebrations among the traveling supporters.

From that point onward, the Cityzens comfortably managed the closing stages to secure their first away victory in six Premier League matches, while Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester suffered their fourth consecutive defeat.
