Leicester City 1-2 Chelsea: Blues hold on to win on Maresca's return to Leicester to maintain top-four push

Enzo Fernandez (23) played a pivotal role in Chelsea's 2-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League, contributing to both goals and extending the team's unbeaten streak against their opponents to seven matches.
Enzo Maresca made his first return to the King Power Stadium since leading Leicester into the Premier League, and the match began with the home side adopting a defensive posture to mitigate Chelsea's offensive threats.
However, this strategy resulted in the visitor's dominating possession, and the situation worsened for Leicester when Harry Winks was forced to leave the field due to injury, shortly before Nicolas Jackson scored the opening goal in the 15th minute.
Jackson skillfully outmaneuvered Wout Faes, received a pass from Fernández, and finished with precision.
Leicester's difficulties persisted, leading to mounting frustration as Wilfred Ndidi, Boubakary Soumare, and Oliver Skipp received yellow cards for fouls on Cole Palmer, Joao Felix, and Fernández, respectively, within a span of nine minutes.
Despite their struggles, Leicester remained only one goal behind, with Noni Madueke witnessing Mads Hermansen deflect one of his shots wide and having a goal disallowed due to Marc Cucurella's offside position in the buildup.
There were fleeting signs of a Leicester resurgence, as Kasey McAteer nearly found the bottom corner on his first Premier League start, and Ndidi missed the target from a cutback by Victor Kristiansen.
Madueke squandered another chance before halftime and had a particularly unfortunate moment shortly after the break when Jackson's shot was parried into Palmer's path, only for the winger's attempt to hit the goal line without crossing it.
Fernandez also sent a shot wide, yet Leicester remained competitive, struggling to create opportunities against Robert Sanchez.
In an attempt to alter the course of the match, Steve Cooper introduced Stephy Mavididi and Jordan Ayew, but just four minutes later, his team conceded a second goal. Hermansen's save from Jackson's header inadvertently set up Fernandez, who was able to nod the ball into the net.
The hosts were awarded a late penalty after Bobby De Cordova-Reid was fouled by Romeo Lavia, enabling Ayew to successfully convert the penalty, even though Sanchez managed to get a hand on the ball.
While this incident may have prevented Chelsea from maintaining a clean sheet, there was insufficient time left to prevent the Blues from securing a victory following their consecutive draws in the Premier League.
This loss marked Leicester's third defeat in their last four league matches.
