Leicester City boost promotion to Premier League with win over West Brom

Leicester City took a significant stride towards securing a return to the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at home while Southampton's hopes of automatic promotion are in jeopardy following their 2-1 loss to Cardiff City on Saturday.

Wilfried Ndidi and Jamie Vardy found the back of the net for Leicester, with Vardy also missing a penalty. The Foxes managed to surpass their Midlands rivals, who are destined for the playoffs.

With only three games left in the season, Enzo Maresca's Leicester team currently sits at the top of the table with 91 points, two points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town. Leeds United, in third place, trails behind with 87 points.

Southampton had the opportunity to level points with Leeds, but they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Cardiff, despite initially taking the lead through Joe Aribo's 12th-minute strike.

The visitors had chances to extend their advantage, but their wasteful finishing proved costly.

Famara Diedhiou equalized for Cardiff, and Cian Ashford secured the victory for them in stoppage time with a deflected shot.

Leicester will face Southampton on Tuesday, while Leeds will visit Middlesbrough on Monday.
