Leverkusen knock West Ham out of Europa League after second-leg draw

Bayer Leverkusen, the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, are now one step closer to achieving a historic treble after securing a 1-1 draw against West Ham United. Xabi Alonso's team, who remain unbeaten in 44 games this season, advanced to the UEFA Europa League (UEL) semi-finals with a 3-1 aggregate victory.
In the previous round, West Ham manager David Moyes mentioned that his team still had a "half a chance" against Leverkusen, despite overturning a first-leg deficit to defeat Freiburg.
West Ham started the match strongly, scoring a goal in the 13th minute through Michail Antonio after a brilliant delivery from Jarrod Bowen. Despite creating more chances, Leverkusen's defense held firm in the first half.
After halftime, Alonso made substitutions that helped Leverkusen gain momentum in the game. However, both teams missed opportunities to score, with Frimpong failing to convert a clear chance for Leverkusen.
As the match progressed, West Ham pushed for a goal to force extra time, but Leverkusen also missed a chance to seal the victory.
Frimpong, determined not to be denied, swiftly rectified his previous misstep in the 89th minute. His shot, deflected off a defender, sailed past a helpless Fabianski, securing Leverkusen's undefeated streak and paving the way for an enthralling semi-final encounter with AS Roma.
