Lewis Hamilton says Racing for Ferrari fulfils a childhood dream

Lewis Hamilton, expressed his unwavering determination to conclude his tenure at Mercedes on a triumphant note this season. He aims to fulfill a cherished childhood aspiration of racing for Ferrari in the year 2025.

Britain's seven-time Formula One world champion sent shockwaves through the sport when his multi-year deal with Ferrari was announced on Thursday.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Hamilton expressed that the decision felt right and drew parallels to his move from McLaren to Mercedes in 2012.

Reflecting on his journey with Mercedes since the age of 13, Hamilton acknowledged that this was the toughest decision he had ever made. However, he emphasized that the time was ripe for a new challenge and the opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream of driving in Ferrari red.

Recalling his initial leap of faith when joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton acknowledged that not everyone understood his decision at the time. Nevertheless, he believed then, as he does now, that it was the right move. He eagerly anticipates the potential he can bring to this fresh opportunity and the accomplishments they can achieve together.

Ferrari's last drivers' title victory dates back to 2007, the same year Hamilton made an impressive debut with McLaren, narrowly missing out on the championship by a single point. Since then, he has clinched multiple titles, with his most recent triumph in December 2021, solidifying his status as the most successful driver in Formula One history with a remarkable 103 wins.

While Hamilton acknowledged the significance of his move to Ferrari, he emphasized that his current focus lies on the upcoming season with Mercedes. He expressed his unwavering commitment to the team, his determination to contribute to their success, and his desire to conclude their partnership on a high note.

As the record-breaking 24-race season commences in Bahrain on March 2, Hamilton's dedication, fitness, and focus are stronger than ever.
