Lille 2-0 Monaco: Monaco fail to reclaim top spot

AS Monaco failed to reclaim first place in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table after falling 2-0 away to LOSC Lille.
Monaco arrived at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on a three-game winning streak, and another victory in the far north of France would have pushed them back above OGC Nice to the top of the table after their Côte d'Azur rivals beat Clermont Foot 63 on Friday.
Lille, on the other hand, have been in excellent form, and Paulo Fonseca's side took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Edon Zhegrova's teasing delivery from the right was finished off at the back post by Cavaleiro.
Zhegrova was once again the provider as Lille extended their lead three minutes before the break, this time setting up Bafodé Diakité, who powered forward on the inside to score his third goal of the season.
Monaco have a lot of attacking firepower, but they couldn't get back into this game after the break, with Myron Boadu having an effort ruled out for offside midway through the second half and Lucas Chevalier making several key saves.
Lille has now taken ten points from the last twelve available in the league, putting them in fourth place, just two points behind Monaco in third.
