Liverpool reportedly open talks with Feyenoord over coach Arne Slot

Liverpool is reportedly in talks with Feyenoord coach Arne Slot (45) to succeed Jurgen Klopp (56), according to Dutch media reports. The Algemeen Dagblad newspaper mentioned that Liverpool reached out to Feyenoord on Wednesday morning.

Slot was previously rumored to be a potential candidate for Tottenham Hotspur last year but decided to extend his contract with Feyenoord instead.

It is reported that Liverpool will need to pay an undisclosed fee to Feyenoord for Slot's appointment.

Slot has received acclaim for his innovative and attacking style of play at Feyenoord, securing the league title in the 2022-23 season and the KNVB Cup recently.

Having started his coaching career at AZ Alkmaar, Slot has made a name for himself in Dutch football.

Liverpool has been exploring various options for Klopp's successor, including former player Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim. Klopp announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.

In their last campaign, Liverpool emerged victorious in the League Cup and are still in the running for the Premier League championship. Currently occupying the second spot in the standings, Liverpool has accumulated 74 points from 33 matches, trailing leaders Arsenal by a mere three points but with an additional game to play.

Later on Wednesday, Liverpool will be paying a visit to their local rivals, Everton, for a crucial league encounter.
