Lopez shines as Bucks defeat Wizards 131-128

Brook Lopez had a standout performance, equalling his career high with 39 points, including a clutch 3-pointer with 2:40 left, securing a pivotal 131-128 victory for the Milwaukee Bucks in the In-Season Tournament against the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

Despite Khris Middleton leaving the game early in the third quarter due to Achilles tendon tightness, the Bucks, without needing imaging for Middleton, demonstrated resilience. Coach Adrian Griffin stated it was a precautionary move, with further evaluation planned.

In an historic feat, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard contributed 31 points each, propelling the Bucks to a 3-0 record in East Group B. This marked the first time in franchise history that three players scored at least 30 points in a single game.

Lopez, acknowledging the team effort, attributed the success to the playmaking skills of his teammates. Antetokounmpo, downgraded from probable due to illness, played 37 minutes, adding nine rebounds to his 31 points, while Lillard showcased versatility with 10 assists and seven rebounds.

Despite a competitive effort from the Wizards, including notable performances from Jordan Poole, Kyle Kuzma, Tyus Jones, and Corey Kispert, the Bucks secured the win. The game featured 22 ties and 19 lead changes, with Lopez's pivotal 3-pointer breaking a 116-all tie.

Looking ahead, the Bucks face the Miami Heat in their final group play game, aiming to maintain their undefeated record. The Wizards, on an eight-game losing streak, will host the Atlanta Hawks next, while the Bucks are set to host the Portland Trail Blazers in a highly anticipated matchup on Sunday, marking Lillard's first game against his former team.
