Lucas Digne says France is seeking redemption against Italy in the Nations League

France aims to seek retribution for their earlier defeat this year when they face Italy in a UEFA Nations League match at the San Siro in Milan on Sunday, as stated by defender Lucas Digne (31).

In their previous encounter in September at the Parc des Princes in Paris, Italy achieved a 3-1 comeback victory, marking the opening game of Nations League A Group 2.

Currently, Luciano Spalletti's Italy leads the group with 13 points from five matches, three points ahead of second-placed France, who recently played to a disappointing 0-0 draw against Israel on Thursday.

Both teams have already secured their places in the quarterfinals scheduled for March.

"There is certainly a sense of sporting revenge within the group. Losing to a team like Italy makes you determined not to lose again, and I believe that is the mindset everyone will adopt," Digne remarked to reporters on Friday.

"However, they possess excellent team cohesion, a strong squad, and a remarkable coach in Spalletti, whom I know from my time at Roma. He is an exceptional tactician and a great individual.

"It is essential for us to prepare thoroughly and focus on the minor details that we currently lack."

Digne is poised to make his 50th appearance for France against Italy, although the Aston Villa defender has yet to find the net for the 2018 World Cup champions.

"As for scoring, no one has made any jokes about it on the French team," Digne noted.

"Nonetheless, it would certainly be nice to score. Regarding the 50 caps, it represents a significant achievement that requires a lot of hard work, and with time, I increasingly appreciate what reaching 50 caps signifies.

"I take great pride in that, but I have not achieved it yet."
