Luis Díaz set for Bayern switch as Liverpool accept £65.5m deal

Colombian winger Luis Díaz is set to leave Liverpool for German giants Bayern Munich after both clubs reportedly agreed on a £65.5 million transfer fee. The Bundesliga champions, who had an initial £59 million bid rejected, returned with an improved offer that met Liverpool’s valuation, paving the way for the 28-year-old's move to the Allianz Arena.
According to multiple sources, Díaz has already been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia to complete a medical with Bayern. The move ends months of speculation surrounding the forward's future and marks another major signing in Bayern’s aggressive summer transfer campaign.

Díaz, who joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022, has been a key figure in the club’s recent successes. He played a vital role in Liverpool's FA Cup and League Cup triumphs, and was instrumental last season as Arne Slot’s side clinched their first Premier League title in five years. In total, Díaz made 50 appearances and scored 17 goals in all competitions during the 2024/25 season.
His departure, however, signals the start of a new era at Liverpool under Slot, who now faces the task of reconfiguring his attacking lineup ahead of the new campaign.
Bayern Fill the Musiala Void
Bayern’s acquisition of Díaz addresses an urgent need in their squad. The German side has been without star attacker Jamal Musiala, who is recovering from a broken leg and dislocated ankle sustained during the Club World Cup earlier this month. Díaz, with his pace, work rate, and technical ability, offers a proven alternative capable of making an immediate impact in the Bundesliga.
The Colombian's arrival will bolster a Bayern attack already boasting the likes of Harry Kane, Leroy Sané, and Serge Gnabry, potentially creating one of Europe’s most formidable front lines.
Liverpool's Rebuild Underway
Despite the loss of Díaz, Liverpool have wasted no time in reshaping their squad. The Merseyside club has already signed playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have also been added to strengthen the backline, while goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili joins from Valencia.
With Díaz’s exit now imminent, Liverpool may accelerate their pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. The Swedish international is reportedly valued at £150 million, but the Reds remain keen to bring in a high-profile replacement before the window closes.
Díaz’s Legacy at Anfield
While Díaz’s Anfield spell may have been relatively short, his impact was significant. His energy, flair, and match-winning contributions endeared him to fans and helped Liverpool secure major silverware during a crucial transitional phase for the club.
If the transfer proceeds without complications, Díaz will join Bayern ahead of the new Bundesliga season, becoming one of the most high-profile departures from the Premier League this summer.
