Madueke Brace powers Chelsea to 3-0 win over Legia Warsaw in UEFA Conference League Quarter-Final

Chelsea FC made a powerful statement in their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign with a dominant 3-0 away win against Legia Warsaw in the quarter-final first leg on Thursday night. Goals from Tyrique George and a second-half brace from Noni Madueke sealed a comfortable victory for the Premier League giants at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego.

With this result, the 2021 Champions League winners remain unbeaten in the competition and take a commanding lead into the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week.

Tactical Shift After the Break Breaks the Deadlock

Under the guidance of new head coach Enzo Maresca, Chelsea fielded a rotated squad in Poland, with some notable names rested. The first half ended goalless, but not without action—Legia goalkeeper Kacper Tobiasz denied Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with a world-class save just past the 30-minute mark.

The breakthrough came just four minutes after halftime when Reece James tested Tobiasz with a low drive. The Polish goalkeeper spilled the effort, allowing young forward Tyrique George to capitalize and net his first European goal for the Blues.

Madueke Takes Control in Second Half

Substitute Noni Madueke, who replaced Cole Palmer at the break, made an instant impact. In the 57th minute, Jadon Sancho laid off a slick assist, and Madueke kept his composure to slot Chelsea’s second of the night.

Although Christopher Nkunku missed a penalty in the 72nd minute, Madueke was on hand just 30 seconds later to tap in from close range and complete the rout. The performance underlined Chelsea’s depth and attacking prowess as they eye their first UEFA Conference League title.
