Man City, Man Utd cleared to play in Europe alongside sister clubs

A recent decision by UEFA's Club Financial Control Body's First Chamber announced that the presence of these sister clubs will be permitted, following certain modifications to adhere to the organization's regulations.

These changes include the transfer of shares of Girona and Nice to an independent trustee under the supervision of the CFCB First Chamber until July 1, 2025.

City Football Group, the entity that possesses City and Girona, and INEOS Sport, the organization in charge of the football operations of United and Nice, have demonstrated compliance with UEFA's multi-club ownership rules.

They proved that no individual holds roles in the management of more than one club simultaneously and that no single entity exerts control or dominance over multiple clubs.

Additionally, a transfer embargo between the clubs is set in place until September 2025.

UEFA highlighted the adjustments made to the ownership, governance, and financial backing of these clubs, emphasizing the limitations imposed on investors' influence and decision-making capacities over more than one club.

The CFCB First Chamber will continue its oversight to ensure ongoing compliance with the multi-club ownership regulations throughout the 2024/25 season.

Manchester City secured the Premier League title, earning a Champions League spot, while Girona clinched third place in LaLiga.

Meanwhile, Manchester United triumphed in the FA Cup and Nice finished fifth in Ligue 1, qualifying for the Europa League.
