Man City's Marmoush suffers knee ligament injury in Egypt's draw with Burkina Faso

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush sustained a knee ligament injury during Egypt’s 0-0 draw with Burkina Faso in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier. The result keeps the Pharaohs five points clear at the top of Group A with two matches remaining, putting them within touching distance of next year’s finals.
The match took a troubling turn for Egypt just nine minutes in when Marmoush went down after a heavy challenge and was forced to leave the field. Team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela later confirmed the diagnosis as “a bruised knee ligament.”
In a statement posted on its official X account, the Egyptian Football Association added: “The player will undergo an X-ray upon his arrival to Cairo Wednesday morning,” providing further updates once tests are completed.
While Egypt strengthened their qualification chances, the injury to Marmoush will be a major concern for both club and country as they await the results of his medical scans.
