Manchester City needed to break losing routine - Guardiola

Pep Guardiola, aged 53, emphasized the necessity for Manchester City to overcome their recent pattern of defeats after they ended a seven-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
This disappointing stretch included six losses, marking the most challenging period of Guardiola's managerial tenure.
Nevertheless, the triumph came with setbacks, as defenders Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji were forced to leave the field due to injuries.
"We required this win. The club and the players needed it, but it is merely one match," Guardiola stated. "The issues persist with Manu and Nathan.
"Overall, the key takeaway was to break this cycle of not winning, and at last, we achieved that, but we must keep pushing forward."
Injuries have significantly contributed to City's difficulties in recent months, with Ballon d'Or winner Rodri sidelined for the season due to a severe knee injury.
Kevin De Bruyne's return to the starting lineup for the first time in nearly three months highlighted what City had been lacking, as he played a crucial role in stabilizing the team.
The Belgian assisted Bernardo Silva for an early goal and subsequently scored himself to extend City's advantage.
Jeremy Doku completed the scoring in the second half, ensuring that the home team did not repeat last week's dramatic collapse from a 3-0 lead to a 3-3 draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Guardiola refuted claims prior to the match that there was any discord with De Bruyne, who has been carefully reintegrated following injury setbacks.
"Last season, he was out for many months, and this season has been similar. I am delighted he is back," Guardiola remarked.
"He has worked hard. His physical condition and performance against Feyenoord were not optimal, which is why I chose not to play him at Anfield against Liverpool, given their playing style.
"However, the minutes he played at Anfield were impressive, and today he delivered 75 excellent minutes."
Neither Akanji nor Ake is anticipated to recover in time for the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, although Phil Foden may return after missing the Forest game due to bronchitis.
