Manchester City's Unbeaten Run Ends with 2-1 Loss to Wolves

Manchester City's impressive run of victories in the Premier League came to an unexpected halt as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) on Saturday. This defeat follows their recent setback against Newcastle United in the League Cup, marking City's first back-to-back losses since January.

City entered the match with a perfect record in the Premier League, having won all six of their opening games. However, Wolves had other plans and put in a determined performance to secure an important victory.

Wolves took the lead in the 13th minute, capitalizing on a City defensive mistake. Pedro Neto picked up the ball in his own half, advanced into City's territory, and delivered a cross that was inadvertently deflected into the net by City's Ruben Dias.

City, though, fought back and found an equalizer in the 58th minute. Julian Alvarez showcased his skill by curling a superb free-kick into the top corner of Wolves' net.

However, Wolves were not to be denied. In the 66th minute, Hwang Hee-chan restored their lead. After his initial shot was blocked, Matheus Cunha quickly passed the rebound back to Hwang, who made no mistake with his second attempt.

The result was a disappointment for City, especially in the absence of the suspended Rodri, a key midfielder. Mateo Kovacic filled his role, but City couldn't quite find their usual rhythm. Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips were named on the bench, adding to the intrigue of the match.

For Wolves, this victory represents a significant boost in confidence and serves as a reminder that they can compete with the best in the league. Their next challenge is a home game against Aston Villa on Sunday, October 8th.

As for Manchester City, they'll be looking to regroup quickly as they prepare to face Arsenal in a crucial encounter, aiming to regain their momentum in the Premier League title race.
