Manchester United 0-3 Liverpool: Salah stars as Reds hand Red Devils crushing defeat

Mohamed Salah (32) played a pivotal role in all three goals as Liverpool triumphed over Manchester United in the Premier League, decisively concluding a series of three encounters between the two fierce rivals that had ended in draws after 90 minutes.

The match began with a thrilling pace, as it appeared that Trent Alexander-Arnold had given Liverpool an early advantage when Diogo Dalot failed to clear his shot off the line. However, the Red Devils were spared when Salah was ruled offside prior to making contact with the ball.

This incident highlighted the intense start to the match, with both teams eager to seize control in such a crucial contest.

Although the home side enjoyed a greater share of possession early on, they frequently lost the ball in precarious positions, even as they managed to recover sufficiently to maintain parity.

As the half-hour mark approached, Liverpool began to assert their dominance, yet they faced a moment of danger when Noussair Mazraoui's powerful shot was expertly saved by Alisson.

The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, capitalizing on a careless pass from Casemiro. Ryan Gravenberch advanced with the ball and delivered it to Salah, whose delicate cross was met with a header from Luis Diaz.

Just seven minutes later, further punishment was inflicted as Díaz intercepted the ball from Casemiro, passed it to Salah, and received it back through an exquisite outside-of-the-boot cross, allowing him to finish with precision.

At halftime, Toby Collyer replaced Casemiro for his Premier League debut and quickly made an impact, heading the ball down for a Joshua Zirkzee shot that was deflected away by Alisson.

However, the Red Devils continued to struggle, as Kobbie Mainoo was overpowered by Alexis Mac Allister, who initiated a counterattack that concluded with a typically composed finish from Salah.

The Egyptian player, who has now found the net in his last seven matches at Old Trafford, nearly added to his tally with two additional attempts as discontent echoed throughout the stadium.

Although the situation did not deteriorate further for the Red Devils, there was no resurgence, as Alisson thwarted Zirkzee’s close-range header, and the Dutchman subsequently sent another shot off target.

Consequently, Liverpool preserved their flawless start to the season, marking only the third occasion in Premier League history that they have begun a campaign with three consecutive clean sheets.

In stark contrast, United have now experienced two successive defeats, intensifying the scrutiny on manager Erik ten Hag as the team heads into the international break.
