Manchester United boosted ahead of Burnley clash as Mason Mount returns

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is set to welcome back Mason Mount for their upcoming Premier League match against Burnley.

Mount, who has only started seven matches this season, recently returned from a three-month injury layoff but suffered a setback in the FA Cup semi-final. Ten Hag is hopeful that Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, and Lisandro Martinez will also return before the end of the season.

Despite their recent 4-2 victory over Sheffield United, Manchester United currently sits in sixth place in the standings, seven points behind Tottenham Hotspur. With a game in hand, the manager is eager to have all his players available for selection.

Ten Hag expressed his confidence in the return of Shaw, Martial, and Martinez, stating that they have made progress and will soon join team training. He believes they will be able to contribute in the final weeks of the season.

Injuries have plagued Manchester United's defense throughout the season, resulting in the team conceding 50 goals in the league.

Ten Hag has had to make adjustments, including playing midfielder Casemiro as a center-back alongside Harry Maguire in recent games.

He emphasized the importance of partnerships and stability in football, highlighting the need for players to have a strong understanding and connection on the pitch.

When asked about the online abuse faced by Marcus Rashford, Ten Hag showed his support for the forward.

Rashford recently responded to a post on social media, condemning the targeting he has endured for months. The manager echoed Rashford's sentiment, stating that enough is enough and that such abuse is unacceptable.

Ten Hag expressed his deep empathy towards Rashford, acknowledging his exceptional performance last season where he scored an impressive 30 goals.

The manager emphasized Rashford's immense potential and urged everyone to support and motivate him to regain his previous form, despite the criticism he has faced this season.
