Manchester United's Antony joins Real Betis on loan for rest of season

Manchester United winger Antony has completed a loan move to LaLiga side Real Betis for the remainder of the season, both clubs confirmed on Saturday.

While the exact terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, local media reports suggest that Real Betis do not have an option to buy the Brazilian forward. Manchester United are reportedly covering at least 84% of Antony's salary along with bonuses as part of the deal.

In a statement, Manchester United expressed their support for Antony during his stint in Spain:
"Everybody at United would like to wish Antony the best of luck for his spell in Seville."

Antony joined Manchester United in 2022 from Ajax Amsterdam for a reported fee of £80.75 million ($100.77 million), making him the second-most expensive signing in the club’s history. However, the 24-year-old has struggled to live up to expectations at Old Trafford, managing only 12 goals in 96 appearances across all competitions.

This season, Antony has featured in just 13 of United’s 32 games. Despite his limited impact, he remains under contract with the Premier League club until 2027.

The move to Real Betis offers Antony a chance to rejuvenate his career in LaLiga, joining a side known for its competitive performances in Spain’s top flight. The Brazilian will be looking to make an impression and rebuild confidence as he adapts to a new league.
