Maple Leafs G Anthony Stolarz ruled out for 4 to 6 weeks with knee injury

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz (30) is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks following a scheduled knee procedure.

Stolarz was placed on injured reserve this past Sunday after suffering the injury during the team's recent game against the Anaheim Ducks. In his absence, goaltenders Joseph Woll and rookie Dennis Hildeby will take on the responsibilities until Stolarz is able to return.

An MRI indicated that while there was no structural damage, a small fragment described by Stolarz as "a little pebble" was found in his knee.

The eight-year veteran from New Jersey currently leads the league in save percentage (.927) among goaltenders with 15 or more starts. His goals-against average of 2.15 has increased from last season's league-leading 2.03, yet it remains second among qualified goaltenders, underscoring his status as one of the top netminders this season.

Stolarz has recorded a 9-5-2 record in his 17 starts for the Maple Leafs this season and is in the first year of a two-year, $5 million contract. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2025-2026 season.

Stolarz recently concluded a season in which he celebrated winning the Stanley Cup as the backup for the Florida Panthers.

The Maple Leafs, currently leading the Atlantic Division with a record of 19-10-2, will strive to perform effectively without Stolarz in goal. The team has achieved an 8-4-0 record with Woll in net this year, while they are 2-1 with Hildeby.
