Marc Overmars Banned From World Football Over Inappropriate Behaviour

The suspension handed to Overmars in the Netherlands late last year has been confirmed by the KNVB, following reports in Dutch newspaper NRC. FIFA, the governing body of world football, has taken over the suspension.
Overmars, who resigned from his position at Ajax in February 2022, acknowledged his "unacceptable" behavior after it was revealed that he had sent inappropriate messages and photos to several female colleagues.
An independent sports tribunal had previously banned Overmars from any role in Dutch football for two years, with one year suspended.
The KNVB requested FIFA to extend the domestic suspension to a global level, and FIFA's disciplinary committee has decided to implement the suspension from November 16, 2023.
Overmars currently serves as the technical director at Royal Antwerp, a Belgian club he joined after leaving Ajax abruptly. Both FIFA and the KNVB have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Overmars' spokesperson stated that he was aware of the suspension but was not prepared to provide a comment at this time.
According to the newspaper, Overmars has the option to appeal FIFA's sanction.
