Marsch delighted with Canada performance against Chile

Canada secured their spot in the Copa America quarterfinals for the first time ever after a lackluster 0-0 draw with Chile on Saturday.
Manager Jesse Marsch commended his team for their intelligent play and ability to close out the match against 10 men.
Despite having a numerical advantage for the majority of the game, Canada opted for a cautious approach in their attacking play and focused on containing their opponents.
With this draw, Canada now has four points in Group A, trailing five points behind leaders Argentina. Argentina's victory over Peru in the other match on Saturday ensured Canada's progression to the next stage.
Marsch expressed his thoughts to the press, stating, "We could have made things easier for ourselves by scoring, but we were aware of Argentina's early goal in the second half, so our priority was to maintain our defensive shape and not concede any goals."
"I emphasized the importance of staying composed and organized as a team. It's not just the defense, but the entire squad has shown great tactical discipline and cohesion."
"Our strong defensive performances have made us a tough team to break down. Our athleticism and physicality have been key factors in our progress throughout the tournament."
The team's new American coach, who assumed control just last month, emphasized that Canada's goal is not merely to reach the quarter-finals in their tournament debut.
"I am pushing them to develop, improve, and adjust to my vision for them," Marsch stated.
"I am challenging them to become more astute professionals, more skilled players, and more experienced players. I am challenging them to comprehend the tactics, not just the mindset, of what a true team entails, and how it aligns with a tactical structure and system.
"I have been extremely impressed by their efforts... I am very proud of what they have achieved. However, we are not content. We are focused on the future and will continue to strive for success in Friday's match."
Canada is set to play against the Group B winner in the quarterfinals on Friday.
