Marseille 0-2 Paris Saint-Germain: 10-man Parisiens claim Le Classique victory after second-half strikes from Vitinha and Ramos

Paris Saint-Germain managed to win 2-0 against Olympique de Marseille despite being a player down in the exciting 107th edition of Le Classique. This win made them the first team to emerge victorious at the Stade Vélodrome in any competition this season.

The passionate Stade Vélodrome supporters had yet to witness their team's defeat at home this season, but the unbeaten away record of league leaders PSG made them clear favorites.

Within just five minutes, the home team knew they had escaped a potential setback when Fabián Ruiz missed a chance. This motivated them to create opportunities of their own.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jordan Veretout posed the biggest threats in the early stages, with Veretout narrowly missing the target with a powerful shot from distance.

As the game progressed past the 30-minute mark, Marseille continued to dominate play, but moments of individual brilliance from their opponents threatened to snatch the lead.

Ousmane Dembélé was heavily involved, setting up Randal Kolo Muani for a shot that was saved by Pau López, and then embarking on a sensational twisting run himself, only to miss the target with his effort.

After weathering that storm, the hosts received a significant boost just before halftime when Lucas Beraldo was shown a red card for a foul on Aubameyang as the last defender.

Luis Enrique's decision not to substitute Beraldo with an extra defender at halftime indicated that PSG were determined to secure victory, and their efforts paid off with the opening goal just eight minutes into the second half.

Vitinha made a driving run from his own half, exchanged a one-two pass with Dembélé, and confidently slotted the ball past López on the right side.

Veretout's goal was disallowed due to offside, which left Marseille searching for a quick response. However, the heavy rain made it increasingly challenging for them to create any meaningful attacks.

Faris Moumbagna and Aubameyang both missed golden opportunities to score, as the home team desperately sought an equalizer.

Unfortunately for them, this proved to be their downfall, as they were caught off guard and conceded a devastating second goal on the counterattack.

The ball was expertly played by Marco Asensio to Gonçalo Ramos, who calmly positioned himself and unleashed a powerful shot into the net.

With this victory, Parisians have now won six out of the last seven head-to-head meetings, solidifying their path towards a 10th title in 12 seasons. On the other hand,

Marseille's impressive 19-match unbeaten home run, which dated back to the final game of last season, abruptly comes to an end.
