Masters Tournament 2025 increases purse to $21 million, winner to receive record $4.2 million

The stakes at Augusta National just got even higher. When the 2025 Masters Tournament champion dons the iconic green jacket on Sunday, he’ll also claim a historic $4.2 million payday—$600,000 more than last year’s top prize.
Tournament officials confirmed on Saturday that the total purse for this year's event has been boosted to $21 million, surpassing the previous record of $20 million set in 2024. The increase marks a significant jump from the $3.6 million earned by Scottie Scheffler last year after his four-shot triumph over Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg.
The prize pool continues a trend of rapid growth in professional golf. Just four years ago, in 2021, Hideki Matsuyama earned $2.07 million for his Masters win—exactly half of what this year’s winner will take home.
The runner-up at this year’s tournament will receive $2.268 million, up slightly from the $2.16 million awarded to Aberg in 2024. Golfers finishing in 50th place will collect $52,920, while all players who miss the cut will still walk away with $25,000.
