Mentally worn out Kyrgios says, "I'll play two more years tops."

Kyrgios has faced numerous injuries to his knee, foot, and wrist since withdrawing from the Australian Open earlier this year. He has only participated in one tour match since the Japan Open in October 2022.

Unfortunately, the Australian tennis player has confirmed that he will not be competing in his home Grand Slam for the second consecutive year. In a recent podcast interview, he revealed that he intends to play for only another one to two years and then retire on his own terms.

Kyrgios expressed his reluctance to undergo any more surgeries or deal with further injuries. He believes he still has the ability to perform well for the next couple of years before calling it quits. He also mentioned that he would be at peace with his achievements and that fans would have to accept his decision to stop playing.

During the interview, Kyrgios touched upon various topics, including his public image, his relationship with the media, and his past struggles with mental health. He admitted that the pressure and attention he received in recent years took a toll on him.

The highlight of his career thus far was reaching the Wimbledon final in 2022. Kyrgios emphasized that he wants to return to the court only when he is fully recovered and capable of showcasing the same level of performance he displayed at the prestigious tournament.

The rehabilitation process has been challenging for him, and he acknowledged the importance of patience, consistency, and hard work in regaining his strength and reaching the high level of tennis he desires.

I am not interested in returning to the tour and merely playing at an average level. My goal is to compete for a Grand Slam, so I am determined to reach that level again. It may require some additional time and effort, but I am willing to put in the work.
