Michigan part ways with offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell ahead of National Signing Day

The University of Michigan has terminated the employment of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell (38) in advance of the bowl season, appointing tight ends coach Steve Casula as the interim offensive coordinator.
Following his inaugural year in the role, the program has decided to part ways with Campbell due to a disappointing offensive performance, which saw the team rank 112th in scoring, 128th in total offense, and 129th in passing—placing them fifth worst in all of Division I.
There is speculation that this decision may be influenced by the recent commitment of the nation's top quarterback prospect, Bryce Underwood, to Michigan earlier this year.
"After a comprehensive evaluation of our offense, I made the decision to relieve Kirk Campbell of his responsibilities and pursue a new direction," stated head coach Sherrone Moore.
"This decision was made with the best interests of our football program in mind. I would like to express my gratitude to Kirk for his hard work and commitment to the university, Michigan Football, and our student-athletes. I wish him success in his future coaching pursuits."
Campbell joined the program in 2022 as an offensive analyst before being promoted to quarterbacks coach the following year, during which Michigan advanced to the National Championship.
Prior to his tenure at Michigan, Campbell held the same position at Old Dominion University and Alderson Broaddus University. He also served as an offensive analyst for Penn State during the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons.
