MLB roundup: Aaron Judge belts two more homers as Yankees rout Rockies

Aaron Judge, at the age of 32, achieved his 50th and 51st home runs of the season, propelling the New York Yankees to a 10-3 triumph over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.
With this accomplishment, Judge became the fifth player in history to hit 50 home runs at least three times, joining the ranks of Hall of Famer Babe Ruth, as well as Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez.
Judge's milestone 50th home run occurred shortly after Gleyber Torres walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning. He connected with an 0-2 changeup from Rockies starter Austin Gomber (4-9), driving the ball into the visiting bullpen beyond the left-center-field fence, thus giving the Yankees a 2-1 advantage.
His 51st home run came in the seventh inning, when he launched a first-pitch fastball from reliever Jeff Criswell into the right field stands.
Gomber surrendered four runs on six hits over six innings of work. For the Rockies, Drew Romo contributed with an RBI single in the fourth inning, while Ryan McMahon added a run-scoring double in the fifth.
Nationals 5 Braves 1
Jacob Young recorded two hits, including a crucial RBI double that contributed to a three-run seventh inning, enabling the visiting Washington team to secure a victory over Atlanta and conclude the three-game series on a positive note.
Starting pitcher DJ Herz for the Nationals permitted only one hit—a single by Orlando Arcia in the second inning—over five scoreless innings. Jacob Barnes (8-2) was credited with the win.
Atlanta, which managed only three hits throughout the game, equalized at 1-1 in the sixth inning when Matt Olson launched a 429-foot home run to center field, marking his 22nd home run of the 2024 season.
Pirates 4 Reds 3
Yasmani Grandal delivered a walk-off two-run home run, propelling Pittsburgh to victory against Cincinnati in the final game of a four-game series.
Grandal connected with a fastball, sending it into the right-center field stands against Reds closer Alexis Diaz (1-4), securing Pittsburgh's third win in the series. Aroldis Chapman (5-4) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the victory.
Cincinnati faced challenges in capitalizing on several baserunners during the first six innings against Pirates starter Luis L. Ortiz, who kept the Reds scoreless while allowing four hits. The visitors managed to score all three of their runs in the seventh inning.
Phillies 11 Royals 3
Garrett Stubbs achieved a perfect 4-for-4 performance, scoring three runs and driving in one, as Philadelphia dominated Kansas City in the decisive game of their three-game series.
Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm each contributed two hits and three RBIs, while Brandon Marsh added two hits and crossed the plate twice. Nick Castellanos also made an impact with a two-run homer for the Phillies, who concluded their six-game road trip with a 3-3 record.
For the Royals, Bobby Witt Jr., Maikel Garcia, and MJ Melendez each hit home runs, but the team struggled significantly, going 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. Kansas City starter Seth Lugo (14-8) allowed six runs (five earned) and a season-high 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings.
