MLB roundup: Aaron Judge leads Yankees to seven-run inning to thrash Brewers

Aaron Judge, at the age of 32, kicked off the game with a home run and later sparked a remarkable sixth inning for the New York Yankees. This led to a dominant 15-5 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, securing a series win in three games.

In the first inning, Judge's sixth home run of the season gave the Yankees an early 1-0 lead. As the game was tied 4-4, Judge drew a walk in the sixth inning against reliever Abner Uribe (2-2).

Alex Verdugo hit a ground ball that seemed destined for a double play, but Willy Adames' throw hit Judge's raised hand, resulting in interference and allowing Verdugo to reach base. Crew chief Andy Fletcher later acknowledged that Judge should have been called for interference.

With two outs, Anthony Rizzo walked and Gleyber Torres singled to bring Verdugo home, giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead. Oswaldo Cabrera walked, and Jose Trevino followed with a two-run single.

A wild pitch from Elvis Peguero, who replaced Uribe, allowed another run to score, extending the Yankees' lead to 8-4. Juan Soto contributed an RBI single, and Judge concluded the impressive inning with a two-run single.

In the eighth inning, Rizzo's two-run homer, his fifth of the season and 300th of his career, further solidified the Yankees' dominance, making it a commanding 15-5 lead. Rizzo had a remarkable performance, going 4-for-4 and scoring three runs. On the Brewers' side, former Yankee Jake Bauers hit a three-run shot.

In another game, the New York Mets triumphed over the St. Louis Cardinals with a score of 4-2 in 11 innings. Mark Vientos sealed the victory for the Mets with a walk-off home run in the 11th inning.

The Mets showed resilience as they were down to their final strike before Harrison Bader's game-tying single off Matthew Liberatore (0-1) allowed DJ Stewart, the automatic runner, to score.

Vientos, who was recently called up from Triple-A Syracuse, hit a 1-2 pitch over the center-field wall, just out of the reach of a leaping Michael Siani.

The Red Sox defeated the Cubs 5-4 after Tyler O'Neill hit a walk-off bloop single to bring Jarren Duran home in the bottom of the ninth inning. Duran scored the winning run after advancing to third on Rafael Devers' single to left. Red Sox starter Tanner Houck pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.

In another game, the Astros beat the Rockies 8-2 with solo home runs from Kyle Tucker, Jose Altuve, and Jeremy Pena. Yainer Diaz contributed with a two-run double for Houston. Framber Valdez returned from the injured list to pitch five strong innings.

Houston's bullpen, consisting of Rafael Montero, Bryan Abreu, Ryan Pressly, and Josh Hader, combined for four scoreless innings to secure the win and complete the series sweep. Elias Diaz had two hits for Colorado, who have been trailing in all of their first 28 games.
