MLB roundup: Cardinals' slam in 10th inning stuns Brewers

Starting pitcher Kyle Gibson for St. Louis permitted two runs on seven hits over five and one-third innings, achieving five strikeouts and issuing two walks.
For the Brewers, Joey Ortiz drove in three runs, and Jackson Chourio had an impressive performance, going 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, as the team’s six-game winning streak came to an end.
In another matchup, the Yankees triumphed over the Guardians with a score of 8-1. Aaron Judge showcased his power by hitting two home runs, while Juan Soto also homered and drove in five runs, leading the Yankees to a comfortable win against Cleveland.
Judge increased his league-leading home run total to 47 with a two-run shot in the third inning off rookie starter Joey Cantillo (0-3) and a solo home run in the seventh inning against Eli Morgan, extending the Yankees' lead to 8-0.
Nestor Cortes (7-10) was dominant, allowing only three hits in seven scoreless innings, marking his first consecutive wins since mid-May. The left-handed pitcher struck out four batters and did not issue any walks in his second consecutive scoreless performance.
Cantillo struggled, giving up seven runs on six hits in four innings during his fourth career start, striking out five and walking three. Noel managed to hit a home run in the eighth inning off Tim Mayza, but the Guardians have now fallen to a record of 6-11 since August 2.
Reds 11, Blue Jays 7
The visiting Cincinnati team mounted a remarkable comeback, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to overcome a six-run deficit and secure victory over Toronto in the final game of a three-game series.
Elly De La Cruz of Cincinnati stole third base in the fifth, marking his 60th steal of the season, and later hit his 22nd home run in the eighth inning, concluding the game with three RBIs.
He has become the fifth player since 1901 to achieve 60 steals and 20 home runs in a single season. Spencer Steer contributed with a two-run homer, while Noelvi Marte and Jonathan India each added solo home runs. Cincinnati's right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez allowed six runs on six hits, along with three walks and three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.
For Toronto, Ernie Clement hit a three-run homer, Spencer Horwitz contributed with a two-run blast, and George Springer added a solo shot. Yariel Rodriguez, the Mariners' starter, permitted five runs on six hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings, finishing with six strikeouts.

Arizona completed a sweep of the three-game series, with their strong offensive performance allowing struggling starter Jordan Montgomery to escape with a no-decision after surrendering six runs on ten hits and one walk in 5 2/3 innings, raising his ERA to 6.44. Former Marlins reliever Dylan Floro (5-3) earned the win, and Justin Martinez got his fifth save.
The Miami team benefited from a two-run home run by Jake Burger, who has achieved a total of 25 home runs this season, with 10 of those and 15 RBIs recorded in August alone.
