MLB roundup: Cubs blank Orioles in battle of All-Star pitchers

Imanaga, who hadn't pitched in a week, outperformed Corbin Burnes of Baltimore. Both players were selected for the All-Star Game scheduled for Tuesday night.

Imanaga (8-2) allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out six to earn his first win since June 15th. Burnes (9-4) also pitched six innings, conceding three runs on nine hits while striking out five.

The Cubs secured the win with Christopher Morel's home run. Cody Bellinger, Dansby Swanson, Nico Hoerner, and Michael Busch each contributed two hits for the Cubs, who have won five of their last six games. Bellinger exited the game after being hit on the left hand by a pitch from Orioles reliever Cionel Perez in the seventh inning.

Ryan Mountcastle recorded three hits for Baltimore, which suffered its second consecutive loss to Chicago as part of a challenging start to a six-game homestand leading up to the All-Star break.

Phillies defeat Dodgers 4-3
Kyle Schwarber hit a solo home run, Cristopher Sanchez pitched six solid innings, and Philadelphia won against Los Angeles.

Trea Turner and Bryson Stott each contributed two hits and an RBI for the Phillies, who have now won the first two games in a three-game series. Sanchez (7-4) allowed five hits and two runs. Jeff Hoffman secured a perfect ninth for his ninth save.

Shohei Ohtani had two hits and an RBI, and Miguel Rojas added a single and two RBIs for the Dodgers. Los Angeles starter Gavin Stone (9-3) lasted four and two-thirds innings, giving up nine hits and four runs.

The Mariners defeated the Padres with a score of 2-0 as Bryce Miller delivered an outstanding performance, pitching six shutout innings. Seattle secured their first series win in almost a month by shutting out San Diego.

Miller, with a record of 7-7, allowed only five hits and no walks, striking out one in an 80-pitch outing. The bullpen took care of the final nine outs, with closer Andres Munoz earning his 15th save in 17 opportunities by pitching one-and-a-third innings.

Michael King (7-6) suffered the loss despite giving up just three hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings. He also managed to strike out nine batters and issued only one walk, but it wasn't sufficient to prevent San Diego from losing their fourth consecutive game.

Milwaukee shut out Pittsburgh with a final score of 9-0, thanks to rookie Tobias Myers' impressive performance on the mound. Myers, with a record of 6-3, pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out six batters.

Willy Adames contributed significantly to the Brewers' win with a three-run homer and four RBIs, while Rhys Hoskins and Sal Frelick also made notable offensive contributions.

Pirates' starter Martin Perez struggled, giving up five runs on nine hits in less than five innings.
