MLB roundup: Luis Gil keeps rolling as Yanks best Twins, Cubs edge White Sox

In a dominant performance, rookie Luis Gil (26) pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit, to secure his seventh consecutive win.
Teaming up with three relievers, Gil helped the New York Yankees secure a 5-1 victory against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.
The Yankees, currently on a six-game winning streak, have been on a roll, winning 10 of their last 12 games and an impressive 17 of their last 21.
Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton contributed to the win with their home runs, while Aaron Judge added a two-run double.
Gil, who was recently named American League Rookie of the Month and AL Pitcher of the Month for May, continued his stellar performance by limiting the Twins to just one double by Christian Vazquez in the third inning.
Striking out six batters and walking three, Gil showcased his talent on the mound. In a positive development for the Twins, Royce Lewis returned from a right quad injury sustained in the season opener and hit a home run in the seventh inning.
On the other side, Minnesota starter Bailey Ober (5-4) allowed three runs on three hits in five innings.
Cubs 7, White Sox 6
Ian Happ delivered an impressive performance at the plate, collecting three hits, including a crucial two-run double in the eighth inning, to lead the Cubs to a comeback victory over the White Sox.
Happ went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBIs, showcasing his offensive prowess. Additionally, Christopher Morel and Patrick Wisdom contributed to the Cubs' offensive firepower with their own home runs.
On the other side, Luis Robert Jr. stood out for the White Sox, hitting a home run and finishing the game with two hits and two runs. Lenyn Sosa also made an impact, going 2-for-3 with a two-run shot. However, their efforts were not enough to halt the Cubs' comeback.
With this win, the Cubs extended the White Sox's losing streak to 12 games, matching a significant record in franchise history. The Cubs demonstrated resilience and determination as they overcame an early five-run deficit to secure the victory.
