MLB roundup: Manny Machado becomes Padres' homer king in loss to Mariners

Manny Machado ascended to the top of the San Diego Padres' all-time home run leaderboard as the team triumphed over the Seattle Mariners with a score of 7-3 on Tuesday.
Fernando Tatis Jr. also contributed with a home run, while Yu Darvish secured his first win since May 19th, helping the Padres end a two-game losing streak. Darvish (5-3) pitched five innings, allowing two runs. Robert Suarez closed the game, achieving his 32nd save by recording the final four outs.
Machado launched a two-run homer to center field off George Kirby in the sixth inning, marking his 164th home run with the Padres and extending San Diego's lead to 5-2. Previously, Nate Colbert held the franchise record with 163 home runs from 1969 to 1974.
For the Mariners, Cal Raleigh and Luke Raley each hit home runs, but the team suffered only its second loss in the last six games. Kirby (11-11) surrendered five runs over five-plus innings.
