MLB roundup: Manuel Margot drives in five as Twins top Mariners

Manuel Margot recorded a double and equaled his personal best with five runs batted in (RBIs) as the Minnesota Twins comfortably secured an 11-1 victory against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday in Minneapolis.
Max Kepler and Ryan Jeffers each hit a home run and drove in two runs for Minnesota, who emerged victorious in three out of four games in the series. Carlos Santana and Edouard Julien contributed by each bringing in one run.
Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez (4-2) held Seattle batters to just one run on four hits over six and a third innings. Lopez managed to strike out 10 hitters without issuing any walks.
Luke Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Seattle offensively. On the other hand, Logan Gilbert (3-1) struggled, giving up eight runs on nine hits in just four innings.
In another game, the Brewers defeated the Cardinals 7-1. Rhys Hoskins hit a two-run homer in the first inning, one of three home runs off Sonny Gray as Milwaukee handed St. Louis their fifth consecutive loss.
Jake Bauers and Joey Ortiz also hit solo home runs off Gray (4-2), who had a 0.89 ERA entering the game and had only allowed one home run in his first five starts. William Contreras and Christian Yelich each had three hits and an RBI for Milwaukee.
Lars Nootbar homered for the Cardinals, but Gray struggled, giving up six runs on seven hits, a walk, a wild pitch, and hitting a batter in five innings.
Lastly, the Diamondbacks defeated the Reds 5-4, completing a three-game sweep. Tucker Barnhart started a game-winning rally with two outs in the eighth inning, leading Arizona to victory over Cincinnati.
Corbin Carroll broke the tie with a two-out hit off Fernando Cruz (1-3) in the eighth to score Barnhart and secure the Diamondbacks' fourth consecutive win. Joc Pederson homered in the first inning to end Cincinnati starter Hunter Greene's career-high scoreless streak at 14 2/3 innings.
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Cincinnati, who suffered their eighth straight loss. De La Cruz also added two more stolen bases, bringing his major-league-leading total to 23.
In Denver, the Rockies defeated the Giants 9-1. Brenton Doyle hit a home run and had two hits, while Ezequiel Tovar tripled and doubled in the fourth inning, finishing with three hits to help Colorado secure the win.
Charlie Blackmon recorded a triple, a double, and a single while driving in two runs for the Rockies. Elias Diaz also contributed with two hits. In the fourth inning, Colorado sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs, ending their four-game losing streak. Cal Quantrill pitched six innings, allowing only one run, to secure the victory for the Rockies.
On the other side, Michael Conforto hit a home run for the Giants, but their attempt to complete a three-game sweep was unsuccessful. Keaton Winn struggled on the mound, giving up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings.
In another game, the Astros defeated the Yankees 4-3. Jon Singleton's two-run homer in the first inning, which traveled an impressive 442 feet, helped Houston break their nine-game losing streak against New York. Yordan Alvarez also hit a home run before Singleton's blast.
Although Anthony Volpe hit a two-run homer for the Yankees, their five-game winning streak came to an end. Aaron Judge added a 473-foot homer in the eighth, but Josh Hader closed out the game and earned his fourth save.
In the matchup between the Royals and the Angels, Michael Wacha pitched a strong game for Kansas City, taking a shutout into the seventh inning. Vinnie Pasquantino and Dairon Blanco both hit home runs to contribute to the Royals' 10-4 victory. Maikel Garcia, Pasquantino, and Blanco all had multiple hits and drove in runs.
Cole Tucker drove in two runs for the Angels, but Reid Detmers struggled on the mound, allowing six runs in five innings.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians with a score of 3-2. Erick Fedde pitched impressively, keeping the visiting team scoreless for over six innings. Eloy Jimenez, who had been struggling, managed to get two hits in the game.
Cleveland's Josh Naylor, Will Brennan, and Bo Naylor also had two hits each, but their team struggled with runners in scoring position. Ben Lively took the loss for Cleveland, giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings.
