MLB roundup: Mariners overturn deficit to stun White Sox with walk-off slam

The Seattle Mariners staged an impressive comeback against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night, thanks to a grand slam by Cal Raleigh in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Despite being down by four runs, the Mariners rallied to secure an 8-4 victory. Earlier in the game, Dominic Canzone also hit a home run for the Mariners, who struggled to score against White Sox starter Erick Fedde for the first seven innings.

On the other side, Luis Robert Jr. and Corey Julks hit homers for the White Sox, but it wasn't enough to secure a win.

Mariners' reliever Ryne Stanek played a crucial role in the victory, giving up only two singles and striking out the other three batters in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the inning,

J.P. Crawford and Josh Rojas drew walks, and Julio Rodriguez's single loaded the bases. It was then that Raleigh hit a powerful 2-0 fastball to right field, securing his team-leading 12th home run of the season.

The New York Yankees emerged victorious with a 4-2 win against the Kansas City Royals. Carlos Rodon pitched an impressive seven innings, leading the Yankees to their triumph on the road.

The game saw two significant lineup changes for the Yankees. Juan Soto returned after a three-game absence due to left forearm inflammation and performed well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run as the designated hitter. Meanwhile, Aaron Judge received his first day off of the season.

Rodon, with a record of 9-2, allowed only one run on five singles, securing his seventh consecutive start win. Michael Tonkin closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning, earning his first save of the year. On the other side, the Royals' Seth Lugo (9-2) gave up four runs in seven innings. Unfortunately, Hunter Renfroe had to leave the game in the fifth inning due to a fractured left big toe.

In another game, the San Francisco Giants faced off against the Houston Astros, with the Giants prevailing with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings. Austin Slater's clutch hit, a bases-loaded single to left field, sealed the win for San Francisco during the three-run 10th inning rally.

Brett Wisely and Patrick Bailey contributed RBI singles to tie the game for the Giants, with no outs in the 10th inning. Shortly after, Slater delivered the game-ending hit. Randy Rodriguez (2-1), who recorded the final out in the top of the 10th, earned the win for the Giants.

The Houston Astros initially took a two-run lead in the top of the 10th inning with Victor Caratini's sacrifice fly and Alex Bregman's RBI single. However, Rafael Montero (1-2) couldn't hold the lead, resulting in the loss for the Giants.

In yet another game, the San Diego Padres secured a 6-1 victory against the Oakland Athletics. Jake Cronenworth and Fernando Tatis Jr. both hit home runs, while Dylan Cease put an end to his five-start winless streak with an impressive performance on the mound for San Diego.

Cease (6-5) allowed only one run and struck out eight batters in six innings. Jackson Merrill stood out with three hits for the Padres, while Cronenworth and Manny Machado each contributed two hits.

On the Athletics' side, Joey Estes (2-2) gave up three runs over five innings. Tyler Soderstrom managed to
