MLB roundup: Nats' Trevor Williams beats Braves to stay undefeated

In a matchup between the Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves, Trevor Williams, at the age of 32, showcased his pitching prowess by delivering 5 2/3 solid innings. This performance contributed to the Nationals' 3-1 victory, marking their third win in the four-game series against their National League East rivals.

Williams, who remains undefeated with a record of 5-0, allowed only one run on four hits, while also issuing two walks and striking out four batters. His exceptional performance places him alongside Stephen Strasburg, as the only two Nationals starters to maintain a perfect record through their first 11 starts.

The Nationals' offensive surge came in the third inning, where they scored three runs. Joey Meneses played a crucial role by delivering a two-out, two-run double to right field. Shortly after, Jesse Winker hit a double, allowing Meneses to score.

On the other side, Atlanta's starting pitcher, Ray Kerr, struggled as he worked 3 2/3 innings and conceded three runs on five hits. Despite recording seven strikeouts, Kerr's performance fell short.

Jarred Kelenic managed to triple and score a run for the Braves, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Michael Harris II. Marcel Ozuna also had a notable performance, going 2-for-4 with a double and extending his streak of reaching base to 23 consecutive games.

In a separate game between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels, Juan Soto's three-run triple played a pivotal role in the Yankees' dominant 8-3 victory in Anaheim, California.

Aaron Judge's two home runs gave the Yankees an early 2-1 lead. Notably, Judge's 24th extra-base hit of the month, consisting of 12 home runs and 12 doubles, tied the Yankees' record for the most extra-base hits in May, previously held by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

Carlos Rodon, the Yankees' pitcher, showcased his skills by allowing three runs on three hits in six innings. On the other side, Patrick Sandoval, the Angels' pitcher, surrendered two runs on two hits in six innings. Logan O'Hoppe managed to hit a home run for the Angels, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Yankees' dominant performance.

The Tampa Bay Rays secured a 6-5 victory over the Oakland Athletics in a thrilling 12-inning game. Richie Palacios delivered a walk-off single in the 12th inning, sealing the win for the Rays in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jose Siri hit two home runs, while Isaac Paredes added one to help the Rays finish their homestand with a 3-6 record. Siri's ninth-inning homer forced extra innings, with both teams scoring a run in the 10th. Richard Lovelady (1-3) earned the win with a scoreless 12th inning.

On the Athletics' side, Shea Langeliers had a strong performance with a home run, a double, and two RBIs, while Abraham Toro and JJ Bleday each contributed three hits.
