MLB roundup: Orioles get grand slam from Jackson Holliday in win over Jays

Jackson Holliday, a top prospect at 20 years old, made a triumphant return to the major leagues with his first career home run, a fifth-inning grand slam, as the Baltimore Orioles secured a 10-4 victory over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon.

After struggling with only two hits in 34 at-bats during a spring promotion, Holliday returned from Triple-A Norfolk and made a significant impact. Despite going 0-for-2 earlier in the game, he extended Baltimore's lead with a powerful hit to right field off reliever Yerry Rodriguez, marking his only hit of the game.

In addition to Holliday's impressive performance, Colton Cowser also contributed a home run for the Orioles. However, the team suffered a setback when All-Star third baseman Jordan Westburg sustained a fractured right hand after being hit by a Rodriguez fastball in the fifth inning.

Pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, with a record of 13-4, delivered a solid performance, allowing four runs (three earned) and recording six strikeouts over six innings.

This strong showing contributed to Baltimore's fourth win in five games. On the other hand, Paolo Espino (0-1) took the loss for Toronto, giving up four runs in four innings. The Blue Jays have now lost three of their past four games.

The Red Sox defeated the Mariners 3-2 in 10 innings, with Rafael Devers hitting a double that scored Tyler O'Neill for the winning run.

Jhonathan Diaz took the loss for Seattle, while Zack Kelly earned the win for Boston. Josh Rojas hit a solo home run for the Mariners, and both Rojas and Justin Turner collected two hits each.

The Cardinals won 10-1 against the Rangers, with Tommy Pham driving in two runs and scoring twice in his return to St. Louis. Michael McGreevy won his major league debut as the starting pitcher for the Cardinals, while Andrew Heaney took the loss for Texas.

Miami secured a victory over Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Fla., with a 6-2 win, thanks to Jake Burger's two-run homer and a strong offensive performance from Xavier Edwards and Jonah Bride.

Taj Bradley, the Rays' right-hander, struggled against the Marlins, giving up four runs on four hits in five innings. Christopher Morel also contributed with a home run in his second consecutive game with the Rays.
